Open seminar Monday 19 March at 12:00 - 13:00 in Askja room 132 at the University of Iceland.
Dr. Magnus T. Bernhardsson, Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at Williams College in the United States, discusses the situation in the Middle East, identifying a new, sensitive and complex position in Central-East politics. This flammable area has undergone extensive changes in the 21st century that could overthrow the sensitive balance of the area. This is reflected in, among other things, the war in Syria and Yemen, harsh disputes between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and increased tendencies towards dictatorship in Egypt and Turkey. What significance will these changes have on the development of international politics?
The lecture takes place in Icelandic and is open to all.
